What Layer Manager do you use? (AutoCAD 2009 or later)

I have surrendered to the new manager. Up until recently, I WAS using the classic dialog in 2010. Although, I have switched, I do not leave it open. This causes painfull delays when switching drawings and views.

Classic

Classic for me, but I still use the command line about 1/2 the time too.
I just don't like waiting for each individual change to happen like the palette version does. I might want to make 10 changes, and then press OK.

Classic for me as well, the

Classic for me as well, the new one is just too slow to be usable in many cases, not worth the effort.

Classic is faster

With heavy drawings, classic is the way to go. Maybe most users don't know LAYERDLGMODE.

LM Classic ...

I use the classic layer manager mainly as a force of habit. Before we installed new 64-bit Win 7 machines the modeless Layer Manager dragged our older 32-bit systems down. Now I use it b/c I am a curmudgeon.

Question

I'm new to Autocad after 15+ years with MicroStation, why do people need the Layer Manager open that much? In MicroStation you never need to open the Layer Manager (unless you are a CADD manager defining layer standards), you just use the layer dropdown, and maybe tweak a linetype or weight for special situations when a detail gets very crowded.

Classic

I use the classic layer manager because it does not cause the delays that the new palette causes, especially when using quick view drawings to switch between drawings.

How do you load classic layer

How do you load classic layer manager in Autocad 2010+, I cannot seem to get it to work by copying the express tools folder??

It sounds like you are

It sounds like you are confusing the Layer Manager with the old Express Tools tool called LMAN, which was actually a layer states manager, not a layer properties manager.

LMAN was dropped several releases ago in favor of the built in Layer States Manager (Command name: LAYERSTATE), and there is no "Classic" LMAN.
