Help decide the future at AUGI

Did you vote?

No, not for Obama or McCain... I'm talking about the AUGI elections for Board of Director seats. There is a pretty good chance that you didn't. Out of the (claimed) 170,000 members, only 221 people bothered to vote. That is only 0.13%. Each candidate only needed 148 YES votes (2/3) to be elected, however none of the candidates received enough.

Are there really only 221 people who care about the direction of this organization? If so, why did the other 169,779 people join?

  • To get a discount on AU? No, only about 9,000 people go to AU and only a few hundred attend the AUGI meeting there.
  • To view and/or participate in the forums? No, there are only a little less than 26,000 forum members (being an AUGI member doesn't necessarily make you a forum member).
  • To participate in the AUGI surveys, such as the salary survey? No, that was less than 6,000 people.
  • To submit an item for the various product wish lists? No, only about 1,000 people have participated in that activity.

Well, the 221 people who did vote made their voice known about the future direction of AUGI. Apparently, most are not satisfied with the current situation, especially the termination of the contract with Solid Vapor.

If you are a member and you care about this at all, read the latest, generally uncensored thoughts of even a smaller number of people who hope to have a say in the future of this organization.

If you are a member and take advantage of any of the AUGI benefits such as the publications, the forums, the ATP classes, the AU handouts, and the AUGI website in general - then get involved and make your opinions known in the threads linked above.

Lastly, a second, special election will be held after candidates are lined up again. Keep an eye out for this and vote. Why should 221 people determine the future of a resource such as this, used by thousands of others?

VOTE!

The ability to vote is a GIFT that is not nearly exercised enough nowadays. There are people in the world who don't have the option of choosing who to marry, who they are governed by, or who runs their organizations.

And here we are, barely able to get the people who have that right to use it!

I beg the silent AUGI members out there to speak up and make your voice count. There is too much at stake in this particular scenario for people to simply stand to the side watching.

Rock the vote! Make your opinion known!

AUGI

Excellent analysis, RK. It is sad that a mere 221 people voted for the BoD over at AUGI. Some of the reasons that people didn't vote, at least in my opinion are that they felt that the current affirmative vote system was useless and there votes wouldn't mean much; or they are so fed up with the lack of information (regarding the goings on of AUGI) that they just don't care anymore.

Which is sad. They should care. AUGI is a very valuable resource. Typically, questions are answered quickly. ATP, when up and running, is a valuable resource, as are the wish lists (yea, I'm a little biased there, but I'm allowed). I know there are other CAD resources out there, and I know they are very helpful. But, I think without AUGI, the community it serves would suffer a great loss.

So, folks, get over there, pay attention, and VOTE! Heck, maybe you even want to throw your hat in the ring when the call for nominations for new BoD members is held. They could use a few good men (or women).

AUGI - Elections

Brenda,
There are people who believe that there were a use for that ballot system, I did, as many other people I know did, we just went there and voted NO! And why? Just because we were unhappy with the things we've heard from the president at AU and the path the administration was taking, stepping over all the country chapters, including yours. So we said No! Finito! Basta! Stop!
The good thing: each vote counts!
Now, there are board members saying we rigged the election and therefore they are trying to prevent us to vote!
First, If there were only 221 votes, how could that be rigged? They needed only 148 yes, that means they received 74+ NO votes. I bet there are more members than that in at least one of the board's offices. If this board member had asked his friends to vote YES, would that be considered rigging the election?
If you'd care to chat about it, I'll be available and glad to.
Cheers!

AUGI elections

The process is pretty unclear. OK, 5 or 6 people running. For how many seats? How many are incumbents? Which incumbents may be ousted?

The ballot just shows you a bunch of peeps, and you can actually vote for ALL of them. What that MEANS calls for a shake of the Magic 8-ball.

I voted for those I would like to see on the board.
