Help decide the future at AUGI
Submitted by rkmcswain on Fri, 01/23/2009 - 07:15Did you vote?
No, not for Obama or McCain... I'm talking about the AUGI elections for Board of Director seats. There is a pretty good chance that you didn't. Out of the (claimed) 170,000 members, only 221 people bothered to vote. That is only 0.13%. Each candidate only needed 148 YES votes (2/3) to be elected, however none of the candidates received enough.
Are there really only 221 people who care about the direction of this organization? If so, why did the other 169,779 people join?

I have used Google Notebook for a while. Apparently, existing users can continue to access the content, but for how long...?
Also on the chopping block are 5 more Google services: Dodgeball, Google Catalog Search, Google Mashup Editor, Jaiku, and Google Video. Read more about the others here. Read more »

Submitted by rkmcswain on Fri, 01/09/2009 - 10:04What is going on at AUGI?
Elections to replace outgoing Board of Director positions were held recently and none of candidates received the necessary two-thirds affirmation votes needed to elect them into position. This left a few seats on the board vacant. According to the bylaws, vacancies (other than President and Vice-President) shall be filled by appointment by the President.
In this particular case, the President chose to extend the terms of the outgoing board members until a new election can be held. No announcement regarding this new election has been made. Read more »

I know that a lot of people in this industry, particularly in the United States, were forced to take a pay cut, or even lost their job last year. Others even made the decision to leave the industry altogether. Here is hoping that 2009 is better for all of us.
